Ok, folks, we’re sitting at $120 and only have until November 2nd to raise the $480 towards the goal of $600! (I wouldn’t argue if it went over that in the least.)
If you can donate even $10, please do! If not, please, please spread the word!
You’ll be supporting the following –
- Random Acts – A fantastic not for profit which encourages people to go at least a little out of their way every day to be kind to someone else, and holds events like AMOK, the Anual Melee of Kindness. They also help folks like this veteran and his family, when they need a little extra help to get to a better place.
- The ARC Greater Twin Cities – I will be donating everything I make on November 2nd to a thrift store run by this organization to raise funds for its operation. This group helps individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- Crowdrise, the forum through which donations are collected, also has a points system. If I can get enough points to satisfy the thresholds, I’ll be redeeming them for either a year’s worth of mentoring for an at risk youth through iMentor, malaria nets for an at risk villiage in Africa or AIDS education.
Here are a few of the things I’ve been making to train for the upcoming knit-a-thon:
Ok, well, not the glass mason jar, but the other two have gone towards my fine-motor endurance training.
Teapot and mug cozies! (Available here.)
Coasters and a coffee press cozy! Plus a bag that…I’ve actually finished with the crochet part. Pictures will be taken, and it’ll be put up for sale, once I get the lining and whatnot done.
Crochet flower hair clip!
Rainbow coasters! (Yeah, these are also for sale.)
Can you handle the cute of this bag (and the freakishness of my pointer finger)? I need to figure out what to do with the rest of those smiley beads. They’re so much fun.
Either the evening of November 2nd or sometime November 3rd (depending on tendonitis status), I’ll post pics of what I’ve made in your honor.
Again, please donate here if you can. If not, please, please signal boost!
Edit: I decided to make a rather awkward video and a promise for if I can hit or surpass the $600 mark!
