Making some progress on the costume again!

I actually got some knitting done yesterday! Wild, right?

Even wilder, I’ve started working on the dystopian Raph costume again. I’ve figured out how to do the fishnet stocking-type stitch, which I’m using to make a different sort of arm warmer.

If it works out the way I have envisioned in my mind, the loop will go over a middle finger, the sleeve will extend up to my shoulder, where it’ll open up again to go over my shoulders and continue to the second sleeve.

Since people didn’t recognize my friend and I as TMNT last year from the front, I thought this would be a fun experiment to add to the new costume.

It took me a couple of times to figure out how to do that stitch.

The first one was just a yarn over, combine two stitches technique I discovered online. Here’s what that looked like.

Then, I came across the following video.

¬†Hmm. Looks promising. So, I tried it, and here’s what I got:

Awesomesauce! That’s what I’m using for my latest experiment, just with much bigger needles and green yarn. I’m debating on whether to close the sleeves up and edge the open parts with red or black yarn.

I have yet to wash that new tank top and go at it with paint, and I’d like to see if I can find one of those shell backpacks. Or, I could use the costume shell I have and rough it up a little bit with fabric paint. The original color’s already coming off, and it’s too shiny for what I have in mind.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to get something done to enter to the Art Show, this year. I do have something in mind, but don’t know if I’ve the energy/time to do it. Ah well.

Anyway, as for the garden, I’ve slacked off on watering it, since we had a decent period of consistent rain, and some “risk of frost” nights, but at least one of my squash plants is doing well.

Looks like we’ll have a squash in the nearish future, huh? There are also a few sprouts popping up from the seeds I’d put down when I planted this beauty.
