Three Favorite Animated YouTube Videos

One of the more under appreciated forms of craft/art in western culture is animation. Most people think of things like Loony Toons or kids’ movies when the topic of animation comes up, but there are some truly stunning examples of skill floating around out there.

Here are a couple of my faves from YouTube.

The animator is Ryan Woodward. Check out more of his amazing work here.

This is from Animusic. We used to own one of the DVDs from this collection. Unfortunately, it was stolen years ago, and we haven’t replaced it yet. The songs are all just as cool and ornate as this one is.

Be forewarned – this next one contains stick figure violence and cyber-destruction of epic proportions. (Ok, so it’s not TOO bad. Totally worth sharing, though. This guy is super creative.)

This is by Alan Becker. It looks like he has a whole series of these.

I could watch this stuff all day. A part of me would love to learn how to do it, but a bigger part of me doesn’t want to put the time and effort into it.

So, I’ll just sit here and appreciate the awesome work.

By the way, none of these are affiliate or paid links. They’re just too awesome not to share.
